We Truly Believe Only What We Obey
A devotion written by Karen Brewer

“Learning God’s truth and getting it into our heads is one thing, but living God’s truth and getting it into our characters is quite something else.”  Warren Wiersbe
“We have to be careful about how we live before other people, because, if our impact is going to be strong, it must be the way we live and not just what we say.”  Dr. Charles Stanley
“Behavior validates our belief. If we say one thing and do another, we are dishonest with ourselves and others.”  Dr. Johnny Hunt
“It’s not what you believe. It’s what you obey.”  Dr. Johnny Hunt
“Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only.”  James 1:22
How we behave speaks volumes about what we believe – what we truly believe, not just what we say we believe.
A person who purposefully speeds through a red traffic light does not truly believe that it is right to stop for that red light, especially if the offense is often repeated. No matter how many times they may say they believe so, their action proves otherwise. Not only is their action illegal, it could lead to dire consequences if they cross the path of another.
The same holds true for any way that we interact with others.
It matters not how many times a person may say that they believe something. If they do the exact opposite, especially repeatedly, then they do not truly believe what they say they believe.
Belief needs to be lived out in behavior.
It is not in repeating thoughts and ideas, but obeying those beliefs that matters most.
Let us not only repeat the message, but live the message.
